About alearquivo
Every day I post a few (on average 3, but sometimes it can be more or less than that) images. Photos, screenshots, scans, etc. These are images that are on my external SSD, which I keep for personal reasons.
All images were taken by me, or by my relatives, or by other people close to me in some way.
As the name "alearquivo" (something like "alearchive", "random archive") suggests, it is meant to be random; so I open the folders on my SSD at random until I find an image that fits the posting rules I have imposed. So the images are not committed to following a timeline; in fact, the more random the date of the files, the better. **Update 11/04/2025: I now use Python code to randomly select an image.
The posts follow a pattern: the title is the file name exactly as it is. The first thing in the post should be the image itself. Then, the text of the date the file was last modified. This date is the most "reliable" in the file's metadata, in relation to how close it is to when the image was actually captured.
And speaking of which, yes, some images may have their date tampered with for some reason. From software errors to edits that someone may have made to the image, such as cropping, or downloading the image again, or it may actually be an analog photograph: in these cases, it is very difficult to have the exact date. There are many factors, but the date serves to give at least a rough idea of when the file was last edited.
Regarding the rules I mentioned earlier:
- No recognizable faces. People with their backs turned is okay. Sideways, only if they cannot be recognized. People from a distance to the point of not being recognizable is okay. Faces that are too blurred to be recognizable is okay.
- It's a kind of "sub-rule" of the first one, but: the image cannot identify me or people close to me. In other words, no creation of mine or of people close to me can be visible or clear. This includes brands, companies, paintings, logos, drawings and designs, and photographs previously posted publicly. Any kind of creation can refer to someone's identity. If it is too difficult to trace a connection, it is okay to post it as well.
- Images that have been downloaded from the internet with the authorship of an "outsider", that is, an image not made by me or someone close to me, even if it is free of copyright, will not be accepted here. Unless the images cannot be found on the internet when they would be posted. In this case, the image was once on the internet but is no longer there; it is lost media. So I post the image as a way of preserving it in the digital world.
